Copper Sky Admissions

Is Copper Sky Academy Right for Your Child?
As a specialized micro-school, we provide a distinctive, close-knit, and supportive social environment that sets us apart from large public schools, traditional private schools, 1:1 tutoring programs, and learning centers. Our admissions process is designed to identify specific student profiles to ensure every student admitted is positioned to thrive in our unique setting.
We are an excellent fit for students who:
-
Have Specific Learning Differences: Diagnosed with ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and/or Dyscalculia.
-
Are "Falling Through the Cracks": Bright or creative children who are overwhelmed, anxious, or lost in large classrooms.
-
Are Socially Ready: Students who desire friends and community but may need coaching on social nuances or anxiety management.
-
Need a Different Pace: Learners who need to move while they learn, take brain breaks, or require a multi-sensory approach to reading and math.
-
Are Safety-Aware: Students who can safely navigate a small, educational environment without the need for a 1:1 aide.
Choosing the right school, especially for a child with unique learning needs, is a significant decision. To ensure the best fit for your child and family, all prospective students participate in our 3-Step Enrollment Process:
-
Parent Interview
-
Lead Instructor Meeting and Tour (with parents and child present)
-
Shadow Day (as needed)
Upon successful completion of these steps, and if it is mutually determined that Copper Sky Academy is a good fit, we will proceed with the Enrollment Agreement.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How many students are currently enrolled and what is the capacity?
We currently have an enrollment of 16 students, with an additional 10 students slated to begin in fall 2026. Our maximum capacity for enrollment is 40 students. We have 14 openings. Once the school is full, we will start a waitlist.
How many students will be in each class?
Our initial plan includes 4 classrooms, each with a maximum of 10 students:
-
Early Elementary
-
Middle Elementary
-
Upper Elementary/Middle School
-
High School (a future phase currently in development)
What are the age ranges of your current students?
We are currently a K-8 school with plans to expand to high school. Our students range from 6 to 13 years old.
Do you enroll students mid-year?
Yes. We admit children at any time during the school year provided we have an opening.
How do you accommodate children if they are working at different skill levels compared to other children in their class?
We use Differentiated Instruction (DI) so that each child works at their own pace within a given subject area. Within this framework, our students receive 1:1 and small group, personalized instruction according to their skill level, learning style, and/or preferred learning environment. Our students receive quarterly formal assessments and regular informal assessments throughout the school year to measure progress. The curriculum is adjusted as needed to meet the specific needs of each child.
Do you assign homework?
We aim to provide your child with personalized instruction that allows them to learn both effectively and efficiently during the school day. That way, the hours after school can be dedicated to extracurricular activities and/or family time. However, when appropriate and requested, we are happy to assign or suggest homework assignments.
Do you issue report cards?
No. We provide families with quarterly progress reports to document and highlight the progress each child is making in their unique learning journey. This approach is rooted in our understanding that our typical student works at their own pace, often with skills spanning various grade levels. For instance, a child might be reading at a 4th-grade level and doing math at a 7th-grade level. Assigning grades based on age or traditional grade-level expectations wouldn't accurately reflect their individual development.
If you do not issue report cards, will this be an issue if my child transfers to another school?
While we maintain high academic standards and provide quarterly reports with test scores, we do not provide traditional report cards or issue credits. However, within reason and with advance notice, we can work with you to customize documentation to adhere to policies and criteria of academic institutions your child may attend in the future.
Once my child finishes 8th grade at your school, what is the process for transitioning to high school?
Most of our current families are thinking ahead and are unsure of what the future holds regarding high school. While we do not currently offer high school, we understand our students need options. We are actively working on a plan to provide high school options for our students in the future.
